Water Jetting

Our water jetting teams deliver outstanding results across a diverse range of applications, including hydro-demolition, surface preparation, coating and lining removal, industrial cleaning and cold cutting. That is the power of water.

Water jetting applications

Surface Preparation

Surface preparation water jetting has many unique benefits and applications from traditional abrasive blasting.

The management of wastewater is often much simpler than dealing with the many tons of abrasive media required to conduct the same surface preparation task using traditional abrasive blasting techniques. Additionally, water jetting requires no management of respirable substances and provides a rapid and thorough option for existing coatings removal including the removal of stubborn rubber linings, polyureas and coal-tar epoxies.

Where the substrate has previously had a surface profile created in the past, water jetting can clean and present the previous surface profile, allowing new protective coatings to be applied directly over top of the water jetted surface without any need for re-blasting.

Cold Cutting

Cold cutting with water jets mitigates the risk of deformation, warpage, or shattering by removing high temperatures from the cutting process.

Cold cutting via ultra-high pressure water jetting (UHPWJ) is a preferred alternative where flame cutting is prohibited as it is an intrinsically safe cutting tool perfectly suitable for hazardous environments where there is a risk of fire or explosion.

Our fleet includes mobile diesel UHPWJ units that cover working pressures up to 2800 bar (40,000 psi) at 38 litres/min. All units are multifunctional and capable of pressure and flow changes via situation specific configurations.

Industrial Cleaning

Water jetting allows for the quick removal of stubborn materials including mining process fluids, concrete build-up and more.

By varying water pressure we can target specific elements and substances whilst keeping underlying coatings and substrates untouched. UHPWJ cleaning is unparalleled in its ability to dislodge stubborn materials from the harshest environments.

Common applications:

  • Cleaning of concrete and backfill batching plants.

  • Tank cleaning including flotation and concentrator tanks.

  • Cleaning of water and wastewater assets for inspection purposes.

  • Thorough cleaning of steel and concrete assets including salt contamination.

Coating & Rubber Lining Removal

Water jetting is the most efficient method of removing rubber linings and polyurea coatings.

Water jetting removes the coating in question and prepares the surface for coating by removing all surface contaminants and leaving the original substrate profile intact.

Our team of highly trained and licensed operators are experienced in safely removing all types of rubber linings using various ultra high pressure water jetting techniques, machinery and equipment.

By utilising robotic equipment, we can also remove personnel from repetitive manual handling tasks and safety risks whilst drastically improving production rates.

Pipe Cleaning and Unblocking

Ideal for removing stubborn substrates from pipework while leaving the spooling substrate undamaged.

Our pipe unblocking capability provides a response offering for pipe assets utilising our UHPWJ equipment and custom-built tooling. We can reduce lost operational time by rapidly mobilising to recover crucial assets before blocked product sets and becomes unremovable.

By recovering the blocked pipes waste is reduced and systems can be brought back online faster. Our experienced team have repeatedly been able to clear blockages of curing and cured cemented backfill pipeline and bores at rapid rates before replacements could be delivered to the site.

These works can be conducted in situ underground or above ground, depending on project needs. Our units are also fitted with fire suppression systems for underground mining compliance.

Concrete Hydro Demolition

Remove unwanted concrete structures more efficiently with hydro demolition.

Hydro demolition has many advantages to traditional mechanical concrete removal including:

  • Speed: Our jets remove the old concrete at a much faster rate than jackhammers, up to 25 times faster in many cases.

  • Safety: Water jetting suppresses dust caused by mechanical concrete demolition and through the use of robotic tools we can prevent vibration injury and other manual handling risks.

  • Control: Water jetting can perform targeted and selective demolition ensuring concrete will be accurately removed down to an exact depth and no further. Water Jetting can be used to remove concrete to full depth (Full Depth), or deep within the concrete structure (Deep Removal), when it is necessary to protect the existing reinforcing, shear studs or other considerations. Additionally, hydro demolition is free from micro-fractures.
